Theirry Mugler’s Alien Sunessence Édition Saphir Soleil Eau De Toilette Légrère

Every year, Theirry Mugler releases a spring/summer Sunesscence of their two bestselling perfumes: Angel and Alien. I have reviewed Angel Sunesscence Bleu Lagon a few weeks back and recently, I picked up Alien Sunessence Édition Saphir Soleil Eau De Toilette Légrère 2010. Like all Sunesscence eau de toilettes Alien is a limited edition fragrance. In addition, it is a departure from the original scent and I find it quite different then the original floral infused Alien in the deep violet bottle.

While the original Alien eau de parfum has a strong jasmine scent, making it very feminine, warm and mysterious, Alien Sunesscence is fresh, youthful and light. The Sunesscence version is very fruity infused with pink grapefruit and the Monoi flower warms and softens the citrus scent. The third ingredient listed is white amber. I find the eau de toilette very light but too light for my taste and needs. I prefer my scents to be stronger in the beginning that gets lighter and more subtle by days end. While wearing Alien Sunessence by itself, I find the lasting power poor, as it fades significantly within an hour and by 3-4 hours I can barely detect the scent on me nor could anybody else. However, I find that I can increase the lasting power and enhance the scent by layering on body lotion with a complimenting scent underneath prior to wearing the eau de toilette. Some of my favourites to use are jojoba, cocoa, shea butters and vanilla based scented lotions. I find it really draws out the grapefruit and monoi flower scents better with a lotion underneath and lasts about 5-6 hours. As the scent dries down, it does not change much. It smells very much like grapefruit all the time; however, when mixed with a complimenting body lotion, it gives the eau de toilette more depth.

The colour of the bottle is very appropriate for a summer scent. It is a clear coral colour of pinky orange tones. It actually looks like the sunset is reflecting through the bottle. I find the bottle looking very alienesque or like a philosopher’s stone. While I love Theirry Mugler’s Angel bottles, I am not a fan of Alien bottles. Though I don’t hate it, I don’t love it either. I think the Alien bottles look cheaper and does not feel as luxurious as Angel bottles. I also prefer the strong jasmine scented original Alien because I think it is a much sexier scent and it lasts a lot longer. I would wear the original Alien day or night.  But bottle issues and lasting power aside, I do like Alien Sunessence Édition Saphir Soleil Eau De Toilette as a nice summer scent for the daytime. Alien Sunessence was released in March 2010.

Beauty of the Day: Alien Sunessence Édition Saphir Soleil Eau De Toilette Légrère

Good morning ladies, just a lazy post today. It is a hectic weekend for me and I am short on time. Just a little teaser for goodies to be review and posted for you to enjoy next week. This is the limited edition summer rendition of the original Theirry Mugler Alien au de parfum. This summer’s scent is called Alien Sunessence Édition Saphir Soleil Eau De Toilette Légrère. Doesn’t the bottle look a bit like a philosopher’s stone that is glowing?

A Sparkling Star with Thierry Mugler Angel Sunesscence Édition Bleu Lagon Eau de Toilette Légère Summer 2010 Limited Edition

Thierry Mugler’s Angel Sunesscence Bleu Lagon eau de toilette arrived at beauty counters February 2010 for the spring/summer season of 2010. Growing up, I have always loved the chocolate scent of Angel but strangely enough I never owned a bottle. Only indulging in samples given to me at the Thierry Mugler counter. I was going to buy the original Angel, but stumbled upon its limited edition sister Angel Sunesscence Bleu Lagon instead. I knew I need to pick a bottle of this baby up.

I love this rendition of Angel and have worn it almost everyday. Sunesscence Bleu Lagon is a lighter and flirtier version of the original gourmand Angel. The notes include: frozen star fruit, grapefruit, patchouli, vanilla and ginger flower.  While Sunesscence Bleu Lagon has a hint of the original Angel’s scent of chocolate and patchouli, it is much fruitier, sweeter and sparkling. The initial blast of  scent is very vanilla, fruity and citrusy: full of grapefruit. It has a very soft hint of chocolate and patchouli that is detectable but soften by the grapefruit and star fruit. After about three to four hours the scent settles to a softly sweet and spicy floral that is distinctively vanilla and the spicy floral is probably the ginger flower.

On me the lasting power of Angel Sunessence Bleu Lagon is about 6-7 hours. This scent just smells prettier and prettier as the hours go by. An added bonus is that the bottle is stunningly beautiful: a hand-crafted clear turquoise star shaped bottle. According to the SA at  the counter, all Thierry Mugler Angel bottles are individually hand-made. The blue truly looks like the waters of Blue Lagoon. I only wished that I have a display stand for me to display this beauty upright on my dresser.

Angel Sunessence Bleu Lagon is a 50mL  non refillable star, unlike the original permanent Angel, which is fillable.
