The Body Shop Baked to Last Blush Duo in Coral

Above: The Body Shop Baked to Last Blush Duo in Coral

After a hectic semester at school, I finally had some time to redeem my $10 birthday discount from The Body Shop. I decided this is the perfect opportunity for me to try out some of their makeup, since I don’t have any Body Shop makeup. I browsed around and picked out their mineralized baked blush: Baked to Last Blush Duo in Coral.

The large side is a pink based coral and the small side is a apricot colour. Both colours have a satiny finish with micro shimmer. I liked that the shimmer is not too shiny and over the top, giving a very subtle sheen to the cheeks. When I swirl the two colours together it creates a nice peachy coral. You can create a more pink or apricot colour by add more of the choice colour. Both the pink and apricot side are equally pigmented but the apricot side  is more shimmery. Personally, I like the apricot colour side better. I also liked that both sides are big enough to be used separately with my MAC 129 brush. The texture is velvety and finely milled.

This blush is baked in Italy and contains marula oil, organic olive oil and jojoba. This costs $18.00 CAD.

Beauty of the Day My MAC MSF Collection: Pinks, Corals, Bronzes and Nudes

Above bottom left to right: Sunny by Nature; Global Glow; and By Candle Light

I think it is time to share my stash again, this time my MAC MSFs. I love my MAC MSF’s and I only started buying these about three years ago. My very first was Global Glow. I remember, using Global Glow almost everyday for the whole summer when I first bought it: as eyeshadow and blush. I love using these as blush; bronzer; eyehadow; and highlighter. I used them mostly dry. Too bad these are so damn expensive and I don’t have too many of them. I wish they were at $10 cheaper!

Giving Some Love to MAC In the Groove MSF Petticoat

Above: MAC In the Groove MSF Petticoat

MAC’s MSF Petticoat is another gem I decided I can’t let go of from the In the Groove collection. Being that Stereo Rose and In Candle Light are taking turns selling out on the Canadian website, I know it is a matter of time this shimmery raspberry pink is sold out and who knows when it would be released again. If I recalled correctly, it took Stereo Rose five years to be re-promoted. Petticoat is also a re-promote and it is a beauty in its own right.

In the pan, it is a light pink with deep bronzy pink veining and specks of gold. When swirled together, its a lovely blend of bronzy raspberry pink. It is shimmery with soft flecks of fine gold glitter. I would recommend using this with a light hand because it is very pigmented and shimmery. I like to use a Kabuki brush to buff this on my cheeks for a nice sheer flush of pink. This is a lovely colour because it gives my cheeks a nice rosy glow because of the shimmer. If you love pinks, I think this is a nice MSF to buy because Petticoat needs just as much love as Stereo Rose!

Once and Again with MAC In The Groove: My Mini Haul #2 MAC In the Groove Eyeshadow and Petticoat MSF

Since my MAC store almost always releases their major collections early, I tend to make several trips there for my mini hauls. I was glad I got the opportunity to grab Stereo Rose early because by the official launch date, the much coveted MSF is sold out in all the local stores and counters. Anyway I was itchy to pick up Petticoat too because I just love the pink with bronze pink veining and spots of gold in the MSF. I also B2M the In the Groove mineral eyeshadow. Yes you can B2M limited edition mineral eyeshadows, as long it is not in limited edition packaging. Not every MA knows this fact and you can only do that at the stores, not the counters. If the MA is not sure, get them to check with a manager because you can certainly B2M mineral eyeshadows. Anytime I get to do that, I think it is such a nice little deal. Also check out my first haul. Stay tuned for the reviews and swatches for Petticoat and In the Groove.

MAC In the Groove MSF By Candle Light

Above: MAC MSF in By Candle Light

I have previously wrote about By Candle Light MSF in December where I found the colour nicely pigmented for the winter, when my complexion is a bit lighter. Now that I am more tanned in July, the colour seem a bit light on me. By Candle Light is a light champagne pink with very subtle light gold veining in the pan. I find this to run on the warm side. The texture is very soft and finely milled.

On my skin, it has a very subtle and light sheen to it that is not overpowering. This is a not a frosty or glittery MSF which is nice, because I love the glow it produces on my skin without having chunks of glitter on my cheeks. This MSF has zero glitter/shimmer fallout. I find this nicely pigmented during the winter because it adds a nice pink sheen to my cheeks; however, now that I am more tan this colour seem more nude on my skin and works better as a highlighter for the summer months.

Gorgeous Together MAC Coral Crepe Paint Pot and MAC In the Groove Stereo Rose MSF Swatch and Review

Above: MAC In the Groove MSF in Stereo Rose

In the Groove collection consists of four MSF all re-promotes. They are as follow: Comfort, By Candle Light, Petticoat and Stereo Rose. I bought By Candle Light way back in December and I will try to post some better pictures of it when I can since the sun is out. I really wanted to get both Petticoat and Stereo Rose but budget allows for only one. When I saw Stereo Rose in the previews, I knew I have to have this colour if I could only get one. Stereo Rose is one pretty rose, in the pan it is a peachy coral with subtle bronze veining. Like all corals it is going to be hot hot hot this summer.

On my skin, the colour is a clean peachy coral with just the right amount of pink in it. The texture is very finely milled and it is not chunky at all. The shimmer is also very subtle and this is not a glittery MSF. Consequently, I did not experience any fallout. Stereo Rose reminds me of  Coral Crepe paint pot, except that Coral crepe has brown tones and is more muted. Stereo Rose is more vibrant and pinker. I think the two will look gorgeous layered together, either as blush or eyeshadow. I think Stereo is one my favourite MSF that I own and have seen so far from MAC so far.

MAC In the Groove and Alice + Olivia Goodies, My Mini Haul

My MAC PRO store released both MAC In the Groove and Alice + Olivia one week earlier. Since I just go paid, I decided to treat myself to some goodies. I think both collections have some fun things for everybody. Both are great for colour and if you are a fan of MAC’s MSF and mineralized eyeshadows, I am sure you can find at least on thing you like. I didn’t poke around too long at the new collections because I didn’t want to do too much damage to my wallet. The goodies I picked up from Alice + Olivia are I Want Candy Dazzleglass Creme and Morning After nailpolish. From In the Groove  I bought Stereo Rose MSF. Stay tuned for the reviews and swatches.

LOTD Fun Ways to Wear Medusa’s Mineral Eye Dust: As Lipstick/Lipgloss! Burgundies, Berries, Golds and Champagnes

Above Medusa’s Makeup Mineral Eye Dust to left to bottom right: Magma; Volcano; Rising Sun; Desert Storm; Magma and Vanilla Latté.

Happy Easter Ladies! Yes it is time for another posting of using Medusa’s Makeup Mineral Eye Dusts as lipstick or lipgloss.  Since Medusa’s Mineral Eye Dusts are an all natural product, you can wear these anywhere, including your lips. This post will feature Rising Sun; Desert Storm; Pompeii; Vanilla Latté; Magma; Volcano. To prepare my lips, I used a liberal layer of lip balm but did not blot off the excess. Then I proceed with mixing the eye dust with Medusa’s Makeup Stick It Primer.

Also check out LOTD Reds; Purples; and Pinks.

Above: Magma

Magma: When used on my skin as eyeshadow, Magma is a metallic maroon with slight rosy tones. On my lips, Magma is very pigmented and opaque. As a lip colour it looks like a metallic rosy red that runs warm against my skin.

Above: Volcano

Volcano: This colour is a purplish metallic maroon. On my lips the colour looks like a rich dark berry with pink tones. Volcano reminds me of MAC Most Popular lipstick (lustre).

Above: Rising Sun

Rising Sun: I love this as eyeshadow and as a highlighting colour but on my lips it is BLEH. The colour is too light and gold for my skin tone. While the pigment is strong and opaque as eyeshadow, pigmentation is very sheer and blotchy as a lip colour. If I were to use this on my lips I would lightly pat the gold eye dust on pink or red lipsticks to create a gold iridescent finish; however, I will not wear Rising Sun alone on my lips.

Above: Desert Storm

Desert Storm: Like Rising Sun I like this as an eyeshadow but as a lip colour it does not look good. I was hoping some of the pink tones will show through to create a fantastic champagne golden pink but it looks just like Rising Sun. I would use it the same way as Rising Sun above.

Above: Pompeii

Pompeii: This is a deep dusty rose with golden tones as an eyeshadow. As a lip colour it is a pretty muted mid-tone rosy pink that is slightly metallic.

Above: Vanilla Latté

Vanilla Latté: Vanilla Latté has long been one of my favourite eye dusts from Medusa. It is the perfect golden pink champagne. On my lips it looks like a medium tone nude golden pink champagne. To me Vanilla Latté reminds me of a more nude and less pink version of NARS Orgasm lipgloss. Vanilla Latté It makes a lovely neutral with a bit of metallic finish.

LOTD Fun Ways to Wear Medusa’s Makeup Mineral Eye Dusts as Lipstick/Lipgloss! Reds, Corals and Orange Edition

Above: Medusa’s Makeup Eye Dust mixed with Stick It Primer in Agent Orange; Tiger; Coral Reef; Red Baron.

I know this series has gone MIA for a few months, but now it is back until I run out of ideas and colours for this.  Since Medusa’s Mineral Eye Dusts are an all natural product, you can wear these anywhere, including your lips. This post will feature Agent Orange; Tiger; Coral Reef; Red Baron. I have opted to show these as lipglosses this time because in the previous two posts I used the eye dusts as lipstick in a matte/satin finish.

*Tip: To make a lipstick/lipgloss, I used Medusa’s Stick It Primer, an all natural wax based primer to create the lip colour. I mixed the primer and eye dust together until I get the pigmentation and consistency I want. You can mix it in a container for portability as well. This way you can touch up after you eat and drink. In general, the eyedust/primer mix last me about 3-4 hours with light eating and drinking; however, when I eat lunch and dinner, I will need to touch up, hence having a premixed container will be handy. The mixture does have some slip to it and I find having a pot of colour with me useful for touch ups.

I find it helpful to condition my lips before hand with a lip balm/conditioner because the primer/eye dust mixer can be drying and emphasizes the flakes on my lips. For a matte/creme/satin look condition your lips for 5-10 minutes before hand and blot away the excess lip balm before applying the colour mixture. For a glossy finish, I would use a lip balm liberally then apply the colour mixture; however, don’t blot off the excess lip balm. Alternatively you can mix the lip balm into the primer/eye dust mixture or just apply a lip balm or gloss on top of the primer/eye dust mixture. You don’t have to use the primer to mix with the eye dust because I think a lip balm/conditioner or a lipgloss work just as well. Also check out the pinks and purples.

For these colours I liberally applied lip balm on my lips, but I did not blot out the excess. Then I mixed the Stick It Primer with the eye dust. The lip balm created the shine and creaminess of the colour.

Above: Medusa’s Makeup Eye Dust in Agent Orange

In the pot, Agent Orange looks like a pinkish orange, but on my skin and lips a lot of pink tones show up. I think this would be best describe as a peachy pink coral. This colour has a slightly sheer application.

Above: Medusa’s Makeup Mineral Eye Dust in Tiger

Tiger is a muted burnt tangerine colour. I was pleasantly surprised that I like this colour on my lips because the colour reminds me of Orange Crush and it looks like I drink a whole litre of the it and the pop stained my lips. Tiger is nicely pigmented and smooth.

Above: Medusa’s Makeup Eye Dust in Coral Reef

Coral Reef is a reddish orange coral. This colour applies smoothly and is nicely pigmented. It reminds me of fruit punch and I think it is a perfect summer bright. I think I have several summer tops that would nicely compliment Coral Reef. I can’t wait until it is warm enough so I can wear it.

Above: Medusa’s Makeup Eye Dust in Red Baron

Red Baron is a fuchsia red. To me this is a cool tone hot pink, another pretty summer colour. I never say no to a hot pink lip during the summer months. I think this would look gorgeous with a nude eye, black liner and lots of black mascara.

MAC Too Fabulous and Give Me Liberty of London Mini Haul 2

Happy Friday girls, another quick and dirty post today. I bit the beauty bullet and went back to MAC to buy a few more items from the Too Fabulous collection and the Give Me Liberty of London collections. After all it is pay day but luckily I restrained myself from overbuying and selected some smart and desirable items that I know I won’t regret. From Too Fabulous, I bought Buddy Up Mineralize Blush. Buddy up is a dirty plum and pinky coral duo. From Give Me Liberty of London, I picked up Ever Hip Cremesheen lipstick a creamy peachy coral; Bough Grey Satin eyeshadow, a medium tone greenish gray (gorgeous!); and the medium sized Give Me Liberty of London makeup bag.

Of course all the Give Me Liberty of London items have details from William Morris’ Strawberry Fields on each item. Normally, I skip the MAC makeup bags because though they have launched some very beautiful ones, I find them expensive and not really worth it. However, I just can’t resist buying this one because it is just gorgeous and has beautiful artwork on it. Enjoy these pictures because they are just eye candy! I have been a bit under the weather lately and have fallen behind in my swatches and reviews but I promise I will be back as soon as I can with swatches and reviews with my goodies!
