Wake up and Smell the Daisies: Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau de Toilette

marc.jacobs.daisy1

I received this cute little bottle of Marc Jacobs Daisy au de toilette a few weeks ago at the Fine Finds Shopping Event. Isn’t the bottle adorable and whimsical? It mimics the full sized au de toilette, except the full sized bottle is more extravagant with more daisies on the bottle stopper. The full sized spray sells for 1.7 oz or 50 mL for $57 and 3.7 oz or 100 mL for $72. It was cool that they were giving away a cute 4 mL bottle instead of a little vial.

The scent is youthful, sweet and feminine but not teeny bopper. It does have a nice sophisticated aroma to it without being too mature. I find that this smells more floral and sweeter than the Daisy lotion. It is not as musky as the body lotion, although the body lotion is only faintly musky. After about 1 hour, the floral and fruitiness faded and I can faintly smell the musk and vanilla scents of the fragrance. On my body the au de toilette stays on for about 4-5 hours when I layer this with the body lotion; however, after 6 hours the scent is completely gone. This is a nice spring scent as it is light and sweet. I like this fragrance but it is not really something I would buy for myself. I like the bottle more than the fragrance, as daisies are one of my favourite flowers.

Notes of this fragrance: Strawberry, Violet Leaves, Ruby Red Grapefruit, Gardenia, Violet Petals, Jasmine Petals, Musk, Vanilla, White, White Woods.

Enter the World of Daisy: Marc Jacobs Daisy Luminous Body Lotion Review

daisy.luminouslotion

I received a little sample of Daisy Luminous Body Lotion by Marc Jacobs a few weeks back at the Fine Finds event. My sample size is 30 mL or 1.0 FL oz. It is a light floral scent that is sweet with just a hint of fruitiness and muskiness. The scent contains violet leaves, strawberries, ruby red grapefruit, gardenia, violet petals, jasmine petals, musk, vanilla and white woods.

Since the scent is very light, it does faded significantly within an hour. The lotion itself is lightweight and absorbs very quickly and doesn’t leave a film of lotion on my skin waiting to dry.  However, I don’t find this very moisturizing, my hands still feel dry after I used this. It also has gold shimmer in the lotion for a “luminous” look. The shimmer is subtle but if you don’t like shimmer or glitter, this lotion may not be for you. For me, I think it could be lovely to have a bit of shimmer on my arms and décolletage in the evenings; however, the shimmer does rub off  and I find that I always end up with some on my cheeks. I like to layer this lotion with the corresponding Marc Jacobs Daisy au de toilette. I like this lotion, but it is not something I would buy myself as I think I have other lotions that smell similar and are more moisturizing. I am unsure how much this lotion costs on its own, as it is only available in a gift set at Sephora: Daisy Deluxe Gift Set $65 and  Daisy Gift Set $65. From looking into several e-retails sites, I gather that this sells for $25 to $32.00 for a 150 mL/5 FL oz tube individually depending on the seller.

Style Spy: Fine Finds Shopping Party with Benefit Cosmetics Goodie Bag

Yesterday I went to a RSVP shopping event at Fine Finds sponsored by Style Spy. Fine Finds is a boutique in Vancouver, located in the Yaletown neighbourhood. Style Spy is a blog/shopping guide that features shopping, beauty and social events in Vancouver and Toronto. Fine Finds is a cute little boutique that showcases many Vancouver designers as well as designers from all over Canada. Although the price points are higher than shopping at the mall franchises like H&M and Forever 21, I love supporting local businesses and Canadian designers whenever I can.

The Fine Finds event was on October 15 and is an one night shopping event where almost everything is at least 20% off. There were also additional discounts and goodies if you pick certain raffle tickets. It was a fun night of free Yellow Tail wine tasting and tasty delights such as French macaroons and mini cupcakes.

The shopping theme is Gossip Girl style fashions and makeovers. I would have loved to get a Gossip Girl makeup over and try a rocker chick Jenny Humphrey look, but it was so crowded in there and the line up for the cash desk was at least 20 minutes long, I didn’t have time for a mini makeover, so I had to pass. There was also, Haute Nails demonstrations and I tried that because it was a quick application. Haute Nails are Japanese rubber nail sticks used to bling up your nails. I  picked up a pack and I will do an entry on that soon.

At the event I picked up a cute little feather headband made of duck and chicken feathers with a brass maple leaf charm on it.

For the purchase I got a “swag” bag full of goodies from Benefit: a full sized That Gal Brightening Face Primer, sample sized Eye Con and sample sized B Spot eau de toilette. These Benefit items have been around for awhile now but I have yet to try any of these except for the Eye Con eye cream. I will be back with an entry on these items as soon as I can.

Included in this goodie bag are samples of Marc Jacobs’ Daisy eau de toilette and Daisy Luminous Body Lotion. I am please that the fragrance comes in a decent size of 4ml/0.130z and it is in a miniature replicate bottle of the full size fragrance. I will report back on my views of the fragrance and lotion as soon as I can.

The goodie bag also include sample vials of Lancome Tresor and Magnifque and Fast Food Leave on Conditioner. There were also vouchers from various Vancouver restaurants and beauty salons included.

I can’t wait to try the Benefit and Marc Jacobs goodies and report back. Stay tuned!
