LOTD MAC For Wonderwoman Lipglass in Emanicpation

Above: MAC Lipglass in Emancipation

Emancipation is a pretty shade of peachy pink with shimmer. I love the super size lipglass and the huge doe foot applicator. My lips are pretty full and I am a gloss fiend, so I go through glosses a lot. The oversized doe foot applicator fits on to my lips perfectly and covers my lips with gloss with just one swipe. Emancipation is a nice colour, but it comes off a little sheer. I would say it is a semi-opaque coverage. I find that because the colour is on the sheer side, gloss does settle into my lip lines. The colour is pretty but I find it a bit light for my skin tone and the shimmer gives off a white cast. Though a pretty colour, I would prefer to wear this over a more opaque and pigmented lipstick.

Fabulous Pinkish Purple Lips LOTD MAC Stylishly Yours Cremesheen Lipstick in Style Curve

Above: MAC Cremesheen lipstick in Style Curve

Happy New Year boys and girls. When I saw preview and swatch pictures of MAC’s limited edition Style Curve cremesheen lipstick, I knew it was the one thing I want to get from the Stylishly Yours collection. However, I put off getting it until New Years Eve and have to go the a counter that is just a little out of my way to have it. For a girl who loves pinks and purples, surprisingly, I don’t have any thing in this colour in my lipstick collection.

Style Curve is a lovely, fun and sexy shade of magenta: a perfect blend of pinkish purple. Although the colour looks cool and blue in the pictures, this shade is on the red and warm side of the spectrum with a bluish iridescent sheen to it. For a cremesheen, this is one of the most pigmented and opaque shades I have tried. Style Curve applies semi-sheer but the colour is easily buildable  to a completely opaque finish. It only takes three coats of lipstick to become opaque for me. MAC’s lipliner in Magenta is a perfect companion shade for Style Curve. Magenta liner will add an extra oomph to the colour and make it more opaque. On my lips, this lipstick is creamy and does not feel drying at all

LOTD MAC Pink Cabana Lipstick with MAC I.Want.Candy Dazzleglass Creme

Above: MAC Pink Cabana lipstick with MAC I Want Candy Dazzleglass Creme

MAC’s Pink Cabana lipstick is a goodie I picked up a long time ago, 2007 to be precise and unfortunately it is a limited edition. Luckily I have a back up because it is one of my favourites pinks. It is a frost without giving a white cast against my skin tone like most frost finishes. The colour is nicely pigmented with a golden frost to it. I think it is similar to Lollipop Loving, but pinker and more opaque. Lately, I have been wearing pinks layered with MAC Dazzleglass Creme in I Want Candy. Pink Cabana and I Want Candy create a milky pink with golden shimmer. The greenish yellow shimmer adds a iridescent cast to the pink. The two colours together look peachier, milkier and the yellow tones down the pinkness.

Pure Confectionery LOTD MAC Lipstick Lollipop Loving + MAC I.Want.Candy Dazzleglass Creme

I love the pinky coral of Lollipop Loving with the slightly green iridescence to the colour. The colour is neutral and perfect for spring and summer. It runs on the sheer side because it is a glaze, but it can be layered to become more opaque. I find that the colour applies smoothest when I prepare my lips with a lip balm five to ten minutes before. Lollipop Loving was released with the Heatherette and Sugar Load collections. When it was first released in Lollipop Loving I used it almost everyday and within six months I used almost half the lipstick. I love the vanilla scent to it too. When it was released for Sugar Overload I didn’t hesitate to buy another one. Since I have been in a lipstick and gloss layering mood lately, I have been using Lollipop Loving a lot again. I really like to layer this with MAC Dazzleglass Creme in I.Want.Candy. Together the colours a peachy nude colour that is super glossy with a hint of greenish yellow shimmer. The combination looks like lipgloss version of Lollipop Loving, enhancing the green iridescence but toning down the pink. Both colours are limited edition.

Have a Roman Holiday Honey Moon with My Favourite Nudy Pink Combo LOTD MAC Honey Moon Lipstick + MAC Roman HolidayDazzleglass

Above: MAC Honey Moon lipstick layered with MAC Dazzleglass Roman Holiday

I remember when I stumbled upon MAC’s LE lipstick in Honeymoon about three years ago at the MAC store and fell in like with it, only to discover it was all sold out. However, I manage to to find one on Ebay for a fair price. Honeymoon is nude café au lâit colour with a hint of pink and pearly shimmer. Imagine a latté with just a splash of raspberry sugar syrup. The lipstick is a frost finish but it is not overly shimmery and it does not create a white cast like many frost. Honey Moon is perfect for the summer with a tan complexion or people with medium/dark skin tones. I often use this with smokey eyes because it has a hint of colour and not too nude or matches my skin tone too much. For a glossy finish, I love to top Honey Moon with MAC Dazzleglass in Roman Holiday.

I must admit that I got Roman Holiday mainly of the name because I love the movie with Audrey Hepburn. Roman Holiday was released 2009 for Eurisocrats II. It is a tawny pinkish brown with lots of fuchsia glitter. In fact it looks like a pinker, darker more sparkly version of Honey Moon lipstick. The texture is thick and sticky like all Dazzleglasses. The colour looks muddled and strange in the tube but on the lips, I think it is a pretty brownish pink with lots of pink sparkle and shine.

The below FOTD I have use Honey Moon and Roman Holiday as a lip combo:

Dazzling in Tangerine LOTD MAC Digi-Pops Dazzleglass in Utterly Posh

Above: MAC Dazzleglass in Utterly Posh

I picked up MAC’s Dazzleglass in Utterly Post last year for their Euristocrats II 2009 collection. As you can tell I have used this colour quite a bit. MAC has released this colour again for their Digi-Pops collection, that is exclusive to The Bay (Canada) and Nordstrom (USA). Utterly Posh is a muted orange with brown tones. The gloss has micro glitter in pink, gold and orange. Texturally, it is thick and sticky, but that does not bother me because those attributes make the gloss longer lasting. It is a lovely colour to wear on its own because it is nicely pigmented. I also like to layer this with lipsticks and lipglosses. I have worn this shade in this FOTD.

Would You Wear Chartreuse Lipgloss? LOTD MAC Alice + Olivia I Want Candy Dazzleglass Creme

Above: MAC Alice + Olivia Dazzleglass Creme in I Want Candy

When I saw I.Want.Candy Dazzleglass Creme lipgloss in Alice + Olivia previews I was instantly curious and attracted to the colour. I thought the shock of yellow green is pretty and fun for summer. The colour is interesting on the lips, depending on your natural lip colour, it can create a different colour. On my medium pink lips, the chartreuse colour creates a peachy nude tone to my lips while reflecting a yellow green shimmer. The gloss is sheer and my natural lip colour shows through the yellow green shimmer. The gloss’ texture is creamy and not sticky; however, it does apply a bit blotchy and I had to help smooth the gloss over evenly with my fingers. After that, I let the gloss naturally set on my lips, which only takes a few minutes. The shimmer is subtle and this is not a glittery gloss. It is an interesting colour and I haven’t see a chartreuse colour gloss from MAC before.

I am not sure if I would be wearing I Want Candy alone on my lips too much, but I think with the right makeup, it would look very cool. I am thinking a smokey eye or even a nude eye look with a black liner. Perhaps a light golden green such as MAC Juxt and black liner with lots of black mascara? I do really like it as a layering gloss. I have paired the gloss with MAC Pink Cabana and Lollipop Loving lipsticks and it makes the pink and coral lipsticks more nude. I don’t think this colour is for everybody but I think it is worth checking out and trying it on at the store.

PS I actually think this would make a very pretty and HAWT HAWT HAWT nail colour. MAC are you listening?

MAC In the Groove and Alice + Olivia Goodies, My Mini Haul

My MAC PRO store released both MAC In the Groove and Alice + Olivia one week earlier. Since I just go paid, I decided to treat myself to some goodies. I think both collections have some fun things for everybody. Both are great for colour and if you are a fan of MAC’s MSF and mineralized eyeshadows, I am sure you can find at least on thing you like. I didn’t poke around too long at the new collections because I didn’t want to do too much damage to my wallet. The goodies I picked up from Alice + Olivia are I Want Candy Dazzleglass Creme and Morning After nailpolish. From In the Groove  I bought Stereo Rose MSF. Stay tuned for the reviews and swatches.

LOTD MAC to the Beach Lipglass Flurry of Fun Review and Swatch

MAC’s lipglass in Flurry of Fun is a shimmery iridescent shade of tangerine. The light orangy shade is full of blue and pink shimmer, but it is dominantly blue. On my lips the colour is very sheer and picks up a lot of shimmer. In fact, my lips look rather frosty with the heavy dose of shimmer and iridescence in the gloss. Because of its lack of pigment on my lips and the strong shimmer, I think Flurry of Fun would make a better layering gloss over peachy and coral shades of lipstick and more pigmented glosses. The gloss’s texture is not as tacky as regular lipglasses, but the gloss still have a decent staying power of 3-4 hours for me. However, after eating and drinking the gloss has rubbed off, leaving only a layer of sparkle on my lips. Being that Flurry of Fun is a high gloss and sparkle lipgloss, I think it would be a nice layering gloss or an evening gloss for parties and clubbing.

MAC at the Beach Preview Party Mini Haul

Above to centre to bottom right: Flurry of Fun Lipglass; Marine Life Highlight Powder;Hipness Blush (Frost)

Last Tuesday, I was invited to go to the MAC at the Beach preview launch party and picked up some pretty and unique goodies. We were greeted by cute eye candy beach surfer boys in orange swim shorts with the sea horse motifs, who made necklaces for each guest with beads and seashells. In addition, hor-dourves and cocktails were served.

I like how all the colours of the collection work well together, full of corals, pinks, peaches, golds and bronzes along with flashes of greens and blues to reflect the colours of the beach. The motifs help tie the theme together with seashells and sea horses. The packaging gives a nice retro tiki cabana feeling to it in orange and avocado green.

For my haul, I picked up items that I don’t own and colours I don’t have in my own makeup collection. I bought MAC Lipglass Flurry of Fun; MAC Powder Blush Hipness (Frost); and MAC Highlighting Powder Marine Life. Marine Life is so pretty, I am tempted to buy another one: one to use and one just to keep and to look at! How could I resist the sea horse motif? Last year, I spent hours and hours doodling owls and sea horses, two of my favourite animal motifs. I am also considering going back at to buy Splashing lipglass. Be sure to stay tuned for the reviews and swatches for Flurry of Fun Lipglass; Hipness Blush and Marine Life Highlight Powder. Enjoy the pictures for now. Also be sure to subscribe to my blog my reader or my email.
