Here is a quick Halloween look I put together by just using feather lashes to add a costume element to my look for Halloween. Just use any look you like to use for a night out and add on a pair of outrageous lashes to amp up your look. Don’t be afraid to go more outrageous on your makeup either. Exaggerate your look more than your normal party or clubbing look. You don’t need to spend a lot on Shu Umera or Makeup Forever lashes, I only spend $5.00 at Welks Discount Store. I suggest checking out fabric stores and costume stores for cheap accessories.

MAC Studio Sculpt Concealer for under eye area and set with MAC MSF Natural to set concealer and under eye area

MAC Paint Pot Bare Study on inner 1/4 of eye as base and to highlight inner corner of eye

Medusa’s Makeup Mineral Eye Dust Boy Toy on top of Bare Study on inner 1/4 corner of eye and up to crease

MAC Greasepaint Stick in Black for outer 3/4 corner of eye and extending out to outer V and bring down to lower lash line

Medusa’s Makeup Mineral Eye Dust Purple Rain on middle of eye lid and up to crease

MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow Young Punk on outer 3/4 corners of eye up to crease and extending out to outer V and bring down to lower lash line

MAC Shape and Sculpt Accentuate/Scultp using Sculpt (brown) on crease and blended above crease. Also use Sculpt for hollow of cheeks. Use Accentuate (peach) to highlight bridge of nose, tops of cheeks, top of forehead and chin.

It is rainy city here in Vancity so I decided to try out another Halloween FOTD. This look was inspired by the Sephora Holiday 2007 catalog cover number 1.

For face:

MAC Hyper Real Foundation mix with 2 parts sunscreen to lighten foundation in colour and texture. Hyper Real Foundation is discontinued now but I would suggest using MAC Prime + Prep Skin primer and mix it in the foundation to create the shimmer. Alternatively, I would also suggest to go to your favourite makeup counter and ask for a foundation sample that is a few shades lighter (2-3 shades) than your natural shade to create an extra illuminating and ethereal look. You can always warm up your complexion with blush or bronzer.

MAC Studio Sculpt Concealer mixed with Benefit Moon Beam liquid highlighter for under eye and imperfections. This will brighten up any dark spots and illuminate the areas, especially under eye.

MAC Honey Highlight Powder in Honey Nectar to set concealer at under eye area

Benefit Moon Beam Highlighter to highlight bridge of nose, tops of cheeks, forehead and chin

MAC Sculpt & Shape Accentuate/Sculpt. Using Sculpt (brown) to contour sides of nose and hollow of cheeks.

MAC Grand Duo Blush in Love Rock for cheeks

For eyes:

Medusa’s Makeup Stick it primer as base for eyeshadow

Medusa’s Makeup Mineral Eye Dust in Comet mixed with MAC Eyeliner Mixing Medium and paint all over lid and extend up to brow bone. Use Comet on lower lash line.

Medusa’s Makeup Mineral Eye Dust in Wasabe on middle of lid

Medusa’s Makeup Mineral Eye Dust in Soylent Green on outer corners and up to crease

Medusa’s Makeup Mineral Eye Dust in Studio 54 for inner eye corner to highlight. Use Studio 54 and mix with MAC Eyeliner Mixing Medium to line waterline.

MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack for upper lash line

MAC Dazzle Lash Mascara in Dazzle Black for upper and lower lashes

Rubie’s Secret Wishes Feathered Lashes in 7641 for upper lash line

Prescriptives Brow Shaping Kit 02 for brows

For lips:

MAC Lip Conditioner SPF 15 to prep and prime lips

Mix Medusa’s Makeup Lipgloss in Sparkle Mania, Medusa’s Makeup Stick it Primer  and Medusa’s Makeup Mineral Eye Dust in Vanilla Latte to create golden pink lips.

Sharing My Stash: Costume Feather Lashes

I found these crazy fun lashes at Welk Mart in my neighbourhood, which is a discount store that sells basically everything from art supplies to household items. Every Halloween they have some of the best selection of Halloween costumes, makeup and accessories. I know these look crazy but what’s Halloween without some fun and wackiness? I can’t wait to try them. They are all feather lashes and they are pretty good quality for $5.00 a pair. Some of these look very Makeup Forever and Shu Umera don’t they? My favourite pair is the long black ones with the long pink feathers.

FOTD Halloween Look: A Clockwork Orange Alex DeLarge Inspired Look Using MAC Kohl Power Feline Liner and MAC Lollipop Loving Lipstick

Here is a really simple Halloween look I did today inspired by the character Alex DeLarge in the movie A Clockwork Orange. It is really quick and simple if you don’t have enough time to get together a look for Halloween. In addition, most of these items are probably already in your makeup kit. It is also a “budget” look because you don’t need a lot of products. For the most basic look all you need is nude colour eyeshadow, black liner, mascara, false lashes and lipstick/lipgloss. Don’t be afraid to get the longest and thickest pair  of false lashes you can find, it is Halloween after all, go for the drama! If you have time, try a more colourful eye or even smokey for this look and add your own twist to it. I am just showing the bare basics of this character. If I have time I would do another FOTD of Alex DeLarge that is more dramatic and girly.

*Additional tip: For the false lashes I recommend getting two pairs with one longer and thicker than the other. Use the longest one for the upper lash line and the shorter one for the lower lash line. As you can see in the pictures below I use the same size lashes for both upper and lower lash lines, but because of the shape of the eye, the upper lashes look significantly shorter than the lower lashes.

MAC Sculpt and Shape power in Accentuate/Sculpt. Using Accentuate on upper cheek bones and bridge of nose and Sculpt on hollow of cheeks.
