MAC Stylishly Yours Fluideline Dark Diversion Product Review and Swatch

Above: MAC Fluidline in Dark Diversion

I purchased this little limited edition beauty last month and after wearing it almost everyday, I finally have time to settle down to write a post about it. Dark Diversion Fluidline was released for Stylishly Yours in January. Among the pretty bright pinks, purples and corals is this dark brownish red burgundy.  The colour reminds me of raisins. A lot of people thought it may look like Fluidline in Macroviolet; however, when I swatched them side by side, Macroviolet is purple and Dark Diversion is brown. I think Dark Diversion has more in common with last year’s Power Kohl liner in Raven; however, Raven is more red and has a shimmer and Dark Diversion looks dark brown.

I really like how pigmented this colour is. One layer is enough and I don’t even need to layer or patch up bald spots. Like all Fluidlines, this is a gel liner and applies smoothly and creamily. I like to use MAC 209 eyeliner brush because the tip is fine and precise and I can almost always achieve a nice thin and sharp line on my upper lash line. If I want a thicker line, I just go over it again. Dark Diversion is the perfect neutral with a punch of red to make it more unique. This colour lasts me all day without out smudging. In contrast to Fluidline Blacktrack, Dark Diversion is much easier to remove without the mess. I am considering going back to MAC to buy a backup.

EOTD Ole to Bollywood: MAC Mickey Contractor Collection Fluidlines in Siahi and Ivy

Above left to right:  MAC Fluideline Siahi and Ivy

Hi boys and girls, life has been hectic with many deadlines from school, hence this very late posting. But better late than never right? Today’s EOTD is a simple swatch showing the Fluidlines from MAC’s Mickey Contractor collection in Siahi and Ivy.

Siahi is a beautiful shade of dark blue green teal. It reminds me of MAC’s Intense Pearlglide Eyeliner in Undercurrent for last year’s Art Supplies collection, but Undercurrent is more green and pearlized and Siahi is more blue and semi-matte. Siahi has rich pigmentation and wears very well throughout the day; however, I did find the colour rubbing off a little bit on very wet and rainy days or when I am a little bit more sweaty. Other then that it is very water resistant and rub proof. I find this colour much easier to remove than darker colours like Blacktrack.

Ivy is another beauty from the Contractor collection. I would describe this colour has a sea foam green. It reminds me of Urban 24/7 Glide on Liner in Graffiti but without the shimmer. Ivy is a bit sheer and not as richly pigmented as Siahi but I think two coats of liner and a bit of touch ups in a few spots should solve the problem. Because this colour is light, it is very easy to remove, just a regular eye makeup remover works fine.

Belle du Jour: MAC Mickey Contractor Fluidlines Siahi and Ivy Product Pictures and Swatches

Above: MAC Fluidelines in Siahi and Ivy

Last week, I picked up a small and modest haul from MAC’s Mickey Contractor collection. This collection is only available at MAC stores and the website. The only things that really intrigued me were the two Fluidelines in Siahi, a blue green teal and Ivy , an emerald green. I may go back to get Sur blush. Please enjoy the product pictures and swatches, I will be back for a proper review in the next post.

EOTD Chanel Stylo Yeux Contour des Yeux Longue Tenue in Jade 50 (Waterproof Long Lasting Liner)

Chanel’s Stylo Yeux in Jade is a pretty shade of turquoise, it is not as green as I expected for a colour called “Jade” but more of a blue green with a soft satiny shimmer to it. This is a fun, lovely and unexpected colour to be in Chanel’s permanent line because Chanel usually launches their more unusual colours as limited edition. The liner is easy to use and comes with a sharpner at the end of the pencil. It is soft and thin, I was able to draw a nice thin line close to my lash line and thicken the line if I wish. What I like about these twisty self-sharpening liners is that I will never scratch myself with the wood from pencil liners. That tends to happen when the pencil is not sharpened properly. I find the colour a bit sheer and needed a bit of layering to achieve opacity and to cover up bald patchy spots. The liner dries within seconds and it is smudge proof and waterproof.  I tend to rub my eyes by mid-afternoon or end of the day and the liner did not move at all. I needed to use MAC cleansing oil to cleanly take off all the liner.

A LBD for Your Eyes? EOTD Stila Smudge Pot in Little Black Dress

Last year Stila released a collection of Stila Loves Barbie collection which includes three smudge pots in Purple Pumps, Cobalt Clutch and Little Black Dress. Smudge Pots are gel liners much like MAC Fluidlines. I received a pot of Little Black Dress from a good friend of mine for my birthday. It is a gorgeous purplish black with pink sparkles. It reminds me of a gel creme version of MAC Mineralize shadow in Young Punk. In fact, I think Little Black Dress would make an excellent base for Young Punk. As an eyeliner, I find the Smudge Pot very smooth and pigmented, much like MAC Fluidlines; however, I do find Smudge Pots less drying then Fluidlines. These are smudge proof, budge proof and waterproof, but very easy to remove with water and eye makeup remover. I find these easier to remove than MAC Fluidlines, but I have only tried one colour, so it could just be this colour that is easy to remove. I love how the pink sparkles add dimension and pizzazz to the black. For daytime I wear it thinly lined but for nighttime, I wear this with either a smokey eye or purple and pink eyeshadows and Little Black Dress thickly winged tipped/cat eyed.

The Perfect Turquoise EOTD Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Liner in Flipside

Spring has just started barely three weeks ago and I am already thinking of summer. Everywhere I see cosmetics companies have at least one teal, blue-green, turquoise and aqua item. This colour range is just oh so gorgeous, with Pantone announcing that turquoise is the colour of the year. You will see a lot of similar blue-green colours. This beauty is the oh so fabulous Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Liner in Flipside. It is a beautiful shade of Caribbean Ocean blue to me, but U/D calls it a bright teal. It is a clear blue with just a slight hint of green and shimmer. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on liners are gel liners that are creamy and smooth, and well they glide on like gel! These also stay on forever, until I decide to take it off with an oil cleanser. U/D 24/7 liners are waterproof and smudge proof.

EOTD MAC Art Supplies Pearlglide Intense Eyeliner in Undercurrent Swatch on Eyes

I have never seen such a gorgeous shade of  blue green. I have a few blue and green liners but this is my new favourite. I think it just makes my brown eyes *pop* and compliments my medium NC 35 skin tone very well. When I saw photographs of Undercurrent I knew I must have this, which is my favourite colour of the six releases. I even like it better than Designer Purple, which I skipped for now. I usually have a weakness for purple but right now I am in a teal phase. Undercurrent is a blue-green teal with turquoise iridescent glitter. I think it is the prettiest of the bunch. The Intense version of the Pearlglide liners are  much smoother and pigmented than the previous Pearlglide liners. Intense Pearlglides also set better, becoming smudge proof within minutes, while the older liners smudges slightly. Read a more detailed review of Intense Pearlglide liners and my EOTD of Black Line. Enjoy the swatches, but excuse the redness in my eyes.

EOTD MAC Art Supplies Collection Pearlglide Intense Eyeliners in Black Line Swatch on Eyes

Above: MAC Pearlglide Intense Eyeliner Black Line

Black Line is black with gold glitter. I think the black and gold mixture create a greenish tinge to the colour. This is a very wearable colour for day or night. I will wear this thinly on my upper lash line during the day, but wear it thicker and line my liner lash line for the evening. Black Line liner reminds me of MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow in Gilt by Association, which is a black eyeshadow with gold bronze pearl and Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Liner in Stash.

MAC Art Supplies Collection Pearlglide Intense Eyeliners in Black Line and Undercurrent

Above: MAC Pearlglide Intense Eyeliners in Black Line and Undercurrent

Remember the fabulous MAC Pearlglide Eye Liners that MAC launches as limited edition from time to time? Last time were Rave (Violet with purple glitter) and Black Russian (Gray Black with silver glitter) from the Love that Look collection. Well this time MAC stepped it up a notch by launch a Pearlglide INTENSE Eyeliner for the Art Supplies Collection released in April. While regular Pearlglide liners are very smooth, Pearlglide Intense liners are just a tad smoother and softer. These glide on like gel liners. I agree with other bloggers that Intense Pearlglides are similar in texture  as Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Liners, but I think I these are much smoother than the U/D liners. I find Intense Pearlglides more vibrant and pigmented than the regular Pearlglides. To me regular Pearlglides has a slight sheerness to it. Intense Pearliglides are also more glittery and iridescent. While I find regular Pearlglides wear well and are long lasting, they do smudge ever so slightly. In contrast, Intense Pearlglides dry to a similar texture as MAC Fluidlines and liquid eyeliners. Intense Pearlglides dries within 5 minutes to a smudgeproof and budgeproof finish. I can’t even rub it off; however they are easily removable with cleanser and water. Much easier and cleaner to remove than Fluidlines! These Intense Pearlglide liners are all very pretty and I am tempted to get more but for my small and modest haul I picked Undercurrent and Black Line. Right now I am craving Almost Black and Designer Purple! Below are the product pictures and swatches but stay tuned for EOTD/swatches on my eyes.

Lorac Double Booked Limited Edition Full Face Collection Product Pictures

I finally used my Sephora VIP welcome coupon and bought the Lorac Doublebooked eyeshadow set, because I have heard a lot of good things about Lorac’s eyeshadows. This goodie box was released during the Holiday 2009 season and I still see some in stock at my local Sephoras selling for $75 CAD. I was on a hunt for something new to try and to experience other brands.

Lorac’s full face kit includes two tiers divided into 8 cool and 8 warm colour coordinated eyeshadows. The cool eyeshadows include a row of pinks/purples and a row of grays and a black. The cool tier also has a highlighter, a cool tone blush and two shades of lipglosses. The second tier include warm  eyeshadow colours in a row of gold, a row of bronzes, a warm tone blush and a bronzer. There is also a neutral colour lip pencil and a dual sided eyeshadow/liner brush. This set is encased in a metallic platinum colour jewellery box, where you can keep the matching palette or your jewellery.

All the colours in each row coordinate together quite well and Lorac designed the colours to be worn together to create the classic Lorac smokey eye. Of course, don’t be afraid to mix and match the colours together because I can see a several colour combinations between each row in each cool and warm tier. I haven’t tried any items in this palette yet and I will be back in a few days with a review and swatches. Stay tuned.
