I used to be afraid to wear red nailpolishes but over the last three years, I have come to love them because reds make me feel very sexy. I love the punchy cherry reds to the dark vampy reds. I usually go for the cherry red cremes but lately I am drawn to the shimmery dark reds. I was going to skip MAC’s Concubine but when I tried it in store, I caved in and bought it. Concubine is a sexy dark ruby colour with fuchsia shimmery nuances. In the bottle there appears to be gold shimmer but it is not detectable on the nail, only the fuchsia shimmer is visible. It is pigmented and the application is smooth. I only need two coats for full colour coverage. Several bloggers found that there is visible nail lines with Concubine, but I don’t have this issue. Though it is very pigmented, this does not stain my nails as much as Jade Dragon or Ming Blue. Concubine is a cool red with bluish purple tones. I think Concubine will be perfect for the fall and the holidays. Also check out my posts on Earthly Harmony and Imperial Flower.
