Chanel Le Vernis in Particulière was launched in the Les Impressions de Chanel collection with two other colours: Inattendu and Tendresse. This collection consist of chic, soft and wearable neutrals. The colour I was most interested was Particulière because I am having a mini love affair with gray, taupey mushroom shades. However, I was hesitant because I thought it would be a dead on dupe for OPI You Don”t Know Jacques, which I already have an love. I made a trip to the Chanel counter anyway and the beauty demon in my convinced me to buy Particulière.
Turns out Particulière is nothing like You Don’t Know Jacques and looks nothing like any of the taupe grays I own. Particulière is a medium tone taupe gray in a creme finish. In natural light it looks distinctively gray but in artificial light it looks more taupe/brown. The Chanel shade is a warm tone gray. In contrast, OPI You Don’t Know Jacques is several shades darker and has less brown tones. Jacques is cool tone compared to Particulière. The application of Particulière is glossy, smooth, even and pigmented. I got an even and opaque coverage in just one thin coat but I applied two anyway. Despite the abundance of grays in the cosmetic market nowadays, I would suggest nailpolish fiends and gray lovers to check this out. There is just something unique about Particulière and it is just different enough to own. At least that is my justification.
