MAC Care Blends Essential Oils: Sweet Orange+Lavender and Grapefruit+Chamomile

I have both and I like them so far but I do find that they are very pricey for just 8mL of product. These costs $23.50 each for 8mL. Essentially they are like the MAC Cleanse off Oil, only that they are scented. The Cleanse Off Oil works out to be cheaper being $25.00 for 100mL. The essential oils came out with Warm and Cozy last year, but there is no hurry to buy them because they are permanent items at the PRO stores.

I first started using this for my hands and find it quiet emollient. Recently, I have started using these  on my face, adding a drop or two either before moisturizer or mixing it in my moisturizer. At first I was hesitant to put an oil product on my face; however, I find that it is very gentle, non-greasy and fast absorbing. My skin feels very hydrated and soft and it is perfect because my skin is very dehydrated this time of the year. I also find that both of the oils have a calming effect on my skin, reducing some of the redness from previous acne. I have been using these for three weeks now, and I haven’t broken out from it. A MAC MA suggested to mix this in my foundation and I love the sheerness and the dewiness it created.  Both of the oils have the same texture and produce the same results for my skin, the only difference is the scent. It is a matter of what your scent preference is and not the results these oils yield. As for the scent, I find both very light and gentle and they don’t linger like perfume oils, which is perfect for those with allergies or sensitive noses.

Grapefruit+Chamomile has a very calming aroma to it. The grapefruit gives it a bit of tartness and the chamomile makes the oil a little herbal and woodsy. I love chamomile tea before bedtime in the winter, so this scent initially drew me in first over the Sweet Orange+Lavender. I find the tea smell very calming.

Sweet Orange+Lavender is very invigorating and it is perfect for the mornings when I need the extra zing. This oil smells more sweet due to the sweet orange added to it but the lavender prevents it from smelling too sweet like orange juice. Normally, I don’t like lavender but I love citrus scents and I find that the orange water downs the lavender in this concoction. Either that or I am developing a nose for lavender.
