Above: Sephora OPI Nail Lacquer in Absinthe Makes the Heart
Tis the season to have bling bling nails. The Christmas and holiday season call for glittery nails. Absinthe Make the Heart is part of Sephora’s 2009 Holiday glitter polish collection. I was in search of a deep dark green and I just happened to stumble upon this colour at Sephora a few weeks ago. The name also captured my heart too.
I was in a search for a dark green that is not blacken because I already have Sephora OPI in Dark Room, so I was looking for something with a bit of piazza and bling to keep it from looking to flat. Absinthe Makes the Heart is a dark smokey green with multi-micro shimmer in green, gold, silver, pink and whatever colour you can spot. The slight shimmer adds depth to the polish without making it look too flashy. The shimmer is very subtle. Depending on the light the green base colour ranges from having a grayish cast to a golden cast. On my nails and against my skin tone, it has a golden cast most of the time. The pigmentation and coverage is excellent, I was able to get colour coverage with 2 layers of polish. Although the polish dries glossy by itself, I would recommend using a top coat as well to bring out the iridescent shimmer of the polish. As for the wear time, I got 4-5 days worth with a base and top coat before I see any chips. I like this colour because the smokey green and iridescent shimmer is gorgeous. Unlike many dark greens, where it ends up being quite blacked and looks black in shade and far away, Absinthe Makes the Heart looks distinctively green in most lighting and from distance.
