MAC Love Lace Raven and Feline Kohl Liner and Warm and Cozy Collection MSF By Candle Light Mini Review, Swatches, Product Pictures and My Haul #1

At my local MAC Pro store this week, they release both Love Lace and Warm & Cozy one week earlier than the December 26th launch date. So I couldn’t resist and pick up a few items. Since they released early, they don’t have everything in stock anyway. I was disappointed that they were sold out of all the essential oils already, but no worries the oils are permanent and everything will be in stock by next week’s official launch date.

The Love Lace collection features icy and frosty shades of eyeshadows that all lean toward the cool side of the spectrum. Personally, I didn’t really like any of the Love Lace colours so I didn’t pick anything up. However, I did pick up a back up of MAC Kohl Power liner in Feline and MAC Kohl Power liner in Raven, which is a limited edition repromote.

I previously picked up Feline during the Dsquared launch. To see my review of Feline just click on the link. In summary it is the blackest MAC eyeliner released and it is also the blackest I own. It glides on smoothly and easily and very pigmented. It is perfect for a smokey eye. It is a kohl and is meant to be a smudgy liner. On me, Feline does smudges quite a bit because I have a habit of rubbing my eyes, have seasonal allergies and my eyes are also prone to watering during cold weather.

When I saw the Raven pencil, I was a bit wary of it because it looks like a red/orange rusty colour. However, when I swatch it on my skin it is a deep dark burgundy with small flecks of red and gold shimmer it. Once I tried on the colour, I *loved* it. It has a bit of brown in it to make it a nice neutral, but the shimmer keeps it interesting and different. Raven makes my brown eyes *pop.* I find that this colour is more forgiving to wear than Feline because the smudges are less noticeable. In fact, I think it smudges less too. It glides on easily, smoothly and very pigmented. This would be a nice colour for girls who have fair skin and find black too harsh but find brown boring. This colour is so pretty. I like this a lot and on days when I don’t want to wear black or brown or go too funky,  I see myself reaching for this as an alternative.

In my opinion, the better collection of the two is Warm and Cozy which featured mostly warm neutral shades of eyeshadows, shade sticks and 2 Mineralize finishes. I opted out of the eyeshadows for now because I have a lot of neutral shades. I end up picking up the Mineralize Skinfinish in By Candle Light.

By Candle Light is a light champagne pink with very subtle light gold veining in the pan. I find this to run on the warm side. The texture is very soft and finely milled. It is also very pigmented. On my skin, it has a very subtle and light sheen to it that is not overpowering. This is a not a frosty or glittery MSF which is nice, because I love the glow it produces on my skin without having chunks of glitter on my cheeks. This MSF has zero glitter/shimmer fallout which makes it a winner in my beauty book. In the picture this looks like a fleshy nude peachy colour, but on my cheeks it looks like a warm light pink: the perfect light flush after a walk on a cold day. I find that with the colour and the light shimmer, it is the perfect combination of a blush and highlighter.
