When I heard about this product from Karen at the Makeup and Beauty Blog a few months back, I knew I have to try this. According to Clinique this serum is suppose to reverse sun damage, smooth acne scars and give the complexion an even skin tone. After suffering from a long summer of breakouts, the skin on my forehead is left a bit red, scarred and bumpy. While Retin-A Micro and Hydrocortisone have helped clear up my skin, the scarring is evident and it makes me self-conscious. At $53 CAD for 30 mL , it is quite expensive but it is effective. One bottle lasts me about 6 weeks. I have been using this serum for about 10 weeks and the improvement is evident.
This is a lightweight white concentrated serum and 1-2 drops is enough for my face. I use this twice a day under moisturizer: once in the morning and once in the evening. After 3 weeks of use I noticed that my bumpy scars from acne are a lot smoother and close to being completely gone. I find that this serum also helps prevent major breakouts. The only major breakout I have experienced since using this was resulted from the Skinfood Black Sesame Hot Mask. As for the claims to even out the skin tone, I have yet to notice any major differences because although I have freckles, I don’t have other sun damage that I could tell. I still have a bit of discoloration from my acne scarring; however, by week 6 of use most of the redness is fading. My acne scarring is fading to a light brown blending in with my freckles. Which is a better alternative than bumpy red scars. This product has Salicylic Acid in it to help gently exfoliate the skin and to diminish acne. Salicylic Acid also makes the skin more sensitive to the sun. SInce this serum does not have SPF, ladies please remember to wear sunscreen or all the serum’s hard work in correcting the damage would be a moot point.
This serum is one of the best skin care products I have tried in a long time and I have added this to my regular skin care regime. Although it is pricey, I try to make room for this in my beauty budget every 1.5 months are so. Since I like this serum so much, I have added Clinique’s new complimenting Even Skin Tone Correcting moisturizer SPF 20 to my skin care as well. I will write an entry for the moisturizer once I finish the jar in a few weeks. I hope the skin tone correcting properties would be accelerated when I use both the serum and moisturizer.
