Medusa’s Makeup Eye Dusts Colour Swatches and Product Pictures

Since the previous post doesn’t represent the colours too well, I am posting pictures of the pigments I own and swatched on my skin.  I had my pigments pressed to save space, as having so many little containers are a pain in the ass and pressed pigments are less messy.   These are swatched with a primer.  The pressed pigments give a creamier texture than the original loose form, but still show their true colours.  Medusa doesn’t sell their pigments in solid form or offer a pigment pressing service.  My dear friend pressed all of these for me.  Please note that I don’t own all 48 colours and some colours are not shown in this post.

I think in terms of colour and texture the eye dust are more versatile then the Electro eyeshadows.  These eye dusts are multi-purpose and can be adapted for use on the lips, face and body. There are more colours to use from and from in each colour family there are colours suitable for a variety of people.  I think almost everybody can find a few colours they like and create a combination of looks with these, especially if you love colourful looks.

If you are looking for metallic colours, Golden Boy, Bronze Age, Penny Wise and Silverado are the purest I have seen.  I think Red Baron, Coral Reef, Agent Orange, Jail Bait, Flamingo and Passion would make gorgeous lip gloss.  The purples and greens are the most wearable and versatile colours.  Those who are looking for colours that more neutral toned, I would suggest Vanilla Latte, Rising Sun and Desert Storm.  These neutrals are all shimmery, but they would add nice depth to your eye.  I think it would look amazing as an evening neutral eye.  For a deep crease colour, I like Bruiser and Dirty.  As for highlighting for the brow bone and inner eye corner try Blow, Full Moon and Studio 54.

Hello! May I get your opinion on the eye dust? It’s been hard to get a hold of anyone in customer service at Medusa’s.

I will attend a costume ball and am trying to achieve a fine geisha look. I am looking for a natural (ingredients), lighter alternative (vs the thick theatrical white face paint clown look). I have a tan Asian complexion like yours, and have never used Medusa’s before.

Questions. For the soft, white, even matte face of my geisha costume:

    1) Which Medusa’s make up product(s) would you recommend?
    a) Theatrical Foundation & Highlighter, Color: Geisha.
    b) or Eye dust, Color: Blow? (From the photos, Blow looks like the whitest, matte eye dust I believe?)

    2) Would the Eye Dust work for this purpose, and does it seem like it can be used all the face?

Thanks in advance for the help, Rosanna

      Hi Rosanna,

1)A) I would recommend the eye dust because they are finely milled and very pigmented, but I would only use these on small detailed areas because the eye dusts only have 1.5 grams of product. You would need a lot to paint your whole face! I really like to use the eye dusts my eyes, lips and sometimes cheeks. I would also suggest using a face and body mixing medium to create a light paint like consistency to help achieve your look because a liquid consistency is easier to use for the geisha look you are trying to achieve. It would have better coverage and eliminate powder fallout. If you don’t like using loose eyeshadows I would suggest Medusa’s pan eyeshadows. They have a Electro red and electro pink that would be great for a traditional geisha look, if that is what you are looking for; however, all their eyeshadows are glittery.

      B) Unfortunately, I have never used the Body and Face shimmer in Geisha and I have not seen it person, but in pictures this might be the best all over face powder for your geisha look because it looks close to a pure white. However, it might be shimmery as of all their face and body shimmers. I don’t recommend the Highlighter colour because that is very golden and very shimmery. The face and body shimmer would be more price economical to use for your whole face. Again I would use a mixing medium for it to achieve a full coverage.

The Blow eyedust is the whitest of all the white eye dust but it has a light shimmer to it, though it is not as shimmery or glittery as the Full Moon or Studio 54 (these are iridescent). Blow is not matte.

      2) The eye dust would work for this purpose and since it is all natural you may use it all over your face, including your lips. You could use this to paint your whole face white, but you will need more than one pot for full coverage. I do recommend using these on smaller areas like eyes and lips and cheeks because Medusa has a large range of colours to choose from.

I hope this helps you, if not feel free to contact me. If you wish to contact me privately, you can go to pages and click on “contact me” to send me a private email.

they helped me very well, I needed a berry tone like MAC’s cranberry, now I discovered “pompeii” by Medusa’s Make Up, it may be even a dupe (swatches look similiar, but I had no direct comparison).
I really approve Medusa’s Make Up, it is not well-known in Germany, but the quality is very good and it is not that expensive like mac, shiseido, etc. *thumbs up*
